STAGMen drumming

(ST Andrew's Geezers)

Our current project is STAG drumming! We are meeting the first Saturday of every month for breakfast in RJs café at 9.45 am followed by an hour of drumming, using our own home made drums(!), in St Andrew's church. No need to book just turn up, have a chat, enjoy the drumming and share life together.

At our first meeting it was decied that two things would run in parallel:

  • Regular, monthly, gatherings for fellowship on a Sunday either straight after church for lunch /early afternoon or in the evening.  These will be the last Sunday of each month, so the next is Sunday 27th November when we will be donning our walking boots, grabbing our sandwiches and ambling up Holcombe hill.  There will be opportunities to walk together, talk together and pray to God together.
  • One-off practical projects, most likely taking place on a Saturday or extending as necessary until something is done.  The first ideas for us to get involved in something practical  are to help those we know in need of a bit of organised man-power to get some decorating done.  This can include our own church building, parishioners homes, or those we know who could use a bit of help.  It would involve giving up a Saturday and turning up with paint brush in hand read to get stuck in together.

We also  agreed to some guiding principles:
  • The only commitment we are asking for is to do our best to get together for the monthly fellowship meetings
  • we  recognise that not all can commit time to specific projects and we will all respond as we are best able to with no pressure, but rather from a position of support and fellowship
  • Practical projects don't need to be huge, more importantly they need to be manageable.  Even smaller things can make a real difference
  • we also recognise that we seek to respond to needs we see using the particular gifts God has given us and that these are many and varied.  The things we do need to be similarly varied
