Main Service

Worshipping together as the people of God is an important part of life for Christians. Here we can sing praises to our Lord, pray for the needs of the world, community and each other, grow in faith as we hear the Bible read and explained, and share our lives together.

Here at St Andrew's the 10.30 am service is the main time for worship on a Sunday. West WIndowThis is the service that most people come to, and our children's and youth churches also take place during this time. The service varies week by week from more formal Communion to the much more relaxed and informal All Age Worship. All our services end with refreshments which gives us plenty of time to meet over a tea or coffee and get to know one another better.

At each of our services we have a worship band, with keyboards, guitar and singers, who lead the singing of contemporary Christian worship songs. Various people take part in the services by reading the Bible, leading prayers and welcoming people. At most of our services there is also space for you to receive personal prayer, either during the service or at the end. We aim to make all our times of worship lively and relevant as well as giving space for people to meet with God.

Each month we have the following services:

First and Third Sundays
These are the weeks when we have our Communion service. These service times are our most formal, but are still lively and flexible, and we follow the Church of England Common Worship format. The service is usually lasts around an hour and a half.

Second Sunday
On this Sunday there are no separate children's groups as we all seek to worship together. This an informal service where all ages meet together to worship God, learn more about Him and to think about how we might respond, personally and together, to what we have experienced. The hour-long service aims to be visual and creative, intermingled with fun, games and craft.

Fourth and Fifth Sundays
On these weeks we have Morning Worship. This is less formal than Communion. but not as informal as All Age Worship. The priority in this service is to worship the Lord, hear from Him through the Bible and sermon, and have the freedom and space to encounter Him personally. Any Baptisms or Thanksgivings will also take place on the fourth Sunday.

We have a three monthly rota for all those involved in our 10.30 am service. This includes who is leading and preaching as well as the many other roles which are essential for our morning of worship. You can view the current rota here.
