Children's Church

Our vision for our young people is not just to learn and know about our Great Big God, but to form a personal loving relationship with God which is strong enough to protect them from the many influences that the world is trying to put on them.

Children’s Church is very much an age appropriate alternative to the Adult Church, where we believe that children can learn to be great followers of Jesus and to discover all the gifts and destiny He has for them, even at an early age.

We also believe that 'church' should be FUN for kids (and for adults too)!

All children, from reception to year 6, are very welcome to come along and join in the fun, worship, games, teaching and crafts.

We have got over 10 adults on our Children’s Church team and follow the Church of England Child Protection and Good Practice for working with children and young people.

The Sunday morning meetings start from 10.10 am in St Andrew's CE School on Graves Street as children are dropped off and signed in by their parents. After the activities the children are brought back to the adult service after which parents can take their children home after signing them out.

We also aim to put on other events through the year in addition to our Sunday mornings and in the past these have included pancake parties, light parties, praise events and family fun days.

 

Children's Church winter term

This term we will be exploring Luke's Gospel, following the wonderful journey of Jesus through from His birth to His eventual victory on the cross.  We will be challenging the children to think of Jesus the man, trying to picture themselves in the situations that are described in Luke's Gospel and understanding the effect that Jesus had on those
around him. 

We want to relay the awesome message of the Gospel, following through the temptation of Christ, why Jesus defied authority to do God's will, the different reactions of those healed, why some were chosen to be disciples,  ................

On Sunday 14th February there will be a party in Church at 5pm - possibly with pancakes! 

All invited and friends are very welcome.

 

Our young people ahve also responded to our Vision Sunday with their own vision for Children's Church and what's needed to make it happen. They have also looked at the roles that they believe they can play in the wider church.
