Footsteps Playgroup

‘Footsteps’ St Andrew’s Church Pre-school Playgroup is run by the church for the community. It was started us as a church project over 15 years ago. It has always been the intention to make the pre-school genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.

Footsteps is registered with Ofsted Early Years, Manchester and is also a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, whose philosophy is ‘learning through play’.

Footsteps caters for children between the ages of 2.5 and 4 years of age. The playgroup caters for 50 local children, with places for 25 per session. The sessions are staffed by fully trained women who are known by the children and parents alike as 'Aunties'. They are headed up by our manager, Karen Ramsay - Auntie Karen, on 07967 714534.

Footsteps is sited in the grounds of St Andrew’s Aided CE Primary School in the north of Radcliffe. It serves an area of mixed housing and maintains close working links with the Head teacher and staff at school and also St Andrew’s Church. The playgroup meets in its own prefabricated building.

Parents are able to take part in Footsteps by being part of the Management Committee. If you would like to help in this way please speak to Auntie Karen.

Hours
Footsteps operates within St Andrew’s School term over three terms. The children’s hours are:
    Autumn term
        Mornings (5 days)                                         9.00 am until 12.00 noon

    Winter & Spring terms
        Mornings (5 days)                                         9.00 am until 12.00 noon
        Afternoons after February half term (2 days)     1.15 pm until  3.15 pm

Costs
There is a charge for each session a child attends Footsteps. This is £ 10.00 for a morning session and £ 8.00 for an afternoon session. The morning sessions can be paid for by the appropriate government funding.

Aims of Footsteps

• To enhance the development and education of children in a calm, safe, caring and stimulating environment
• We encourage the children’s development and progress by offering a curriculum based around the Early Years Foundation Stage leading towards the Early Years Goals set down by the Government
